Witchstone play menacing show

E-mail Print PDF

Witchstone’s keyboardist/ percussionist. Photo by Richard AmeryWitchstone provided an aural bludgeoning of big, dark, loud, heavily detuned Black Sabbath inspired riffs at the Slice, Sept. 14 for one of the two CKXU 2013 Love and Records after parties.

Playing in the shadows, like most bands do at the Slice, Witchstone was especially menacing as their keyboardist stood hunched over his instrument, fiddling with effects  knobs, dressed in what looked like a hangman’s habit. their music was mostly instrumental, though there were some big, dark howling vocals on a couple of the songs.

Unfortunately I missed opening sets by DIRT and Daywalker.
