Ottawa based folk/ country musician Trevor Alguire played an energetic set of original folk and country music to Trevor Alguire playing a few of his songs. photo by Richard Ameryapproximately 40 people at the Slice, May 9.

Alguire and his tight rhythm section bassist Trevor Maduke and drummer Jay Bradley played songs from throughout his five albums and several of the more upbeat tracks from his most recent  CD “Miles Away.”

His second set began slowly but picked up with “She’s The One,“ as well as several brand new songs. “Thirty Year Run” from his 2008 CD of the same name was an immediately appealing highlight.

“ So Sad Lately,” was a highlight as was an contemplative number “North Wind” from his  2010 CD “Till Sorrow Begins to Call.“

“Now Before Us” was another upbeat highlight.

“I’m Going Crazy (Out Of Your Mind) from his last CD was another highlight.
He had a road wearied voice that would do Corb Lund proud.
