Wild night with the Wild and One Bad Son

I had to cut the Steve Earle show a little short  because I didn’t want to miss Kelowna's the Wild at Scores, June 30.The Wild Fight For Your Right to Party. photo by Richard Amery

I arrived just in time to catch the end of a wild, big, sweaty and loud version of their big radio hit “Road House” and  a huge encore version of  The Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right to Party” which had everybody singing along as the band requested.
They jumped all over the staged and rocked the house in the big, boisterous way that they do.

One Bad Son were not to be outdone, crashing into their huge, riff laden set of dirty, sleazy  rock and roll. Guitarist Adam Hicks was a machine, blasting out big AC DC style riffs and the occasional screaming solo and bassist Adam Grant laid back in the groove.

Drummer Kurt Dahl stood up and drummed on the low ceiling and the light fixture while closely shorn frontman frontman Shane Volk belted out the lyrics in his throat shredding  voice which sounded like a blend of Bonn Scott, SOne Bad Son drummer Kurt Dahl drum on the ceiling and lights. He observed all of the beautiful women in the crowd and Canada's propensity for creating great rock and roll and noted they just played the Tail Creek Mud and Music Festival and noticed the contrast of looking out at 10,000 faces and then substantially fewer in a sweaty club.

A sweaty club seems to be their natural habitat, I can see they would be at home on a bigger stage. He praised their brothers in rock and roll the Wild saying “ they will be big.”One Bad Son singer Shane Volk. photo by Richard Amery

They played much of their debut CD. Volk picked up and acoustic guitar for a couple of newer songs off  their brand new soon to be released  CD.

They thanked Rock 106 for their support for playing the singles “Retribution Blues,” and “Scarecrow” which had most of the packed house singing along.
