Tanner James and Dylan Keating of indie rock band The Nix Dicksons returned to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Aug. 9 to play an upbeat and perky set of acoustic folk music for an intimate audience of approximately 20 people.Tanner James and Dylan Keating. Photo by Richard Amery

Tanner James told jokes and stories in between his songs while Keating switched between  playing lead on pedal steel guitar and electric guitar. And excellent number was a song inspired by a Greyhound hound bus from Calgary to New York City and eventually Nashville.

Another highlight was their version of the Nix Dicksons“ Red Fox,” as well as  another song about Tanner James' “love-hate relationship with Calgary.”

They ended with a cover of Justin Townes Earle's “Memphis In the Rain.
