Lots of local music for after Christmas parties

E-mail Print PDF

Of course things slow down this week due to Christmas merriment. But once you’ve had your fill of turkey, relentlessly cheery Christmas carols, mind numbing ads trying to convince you to buy stuff you don’t need and crazy relatives, why not clear your head and go out and see some live music. The Necessities reunite for a special show at Average Joes, Dec. 27.  There is an excellent variety of music happening this week — most of it local.

Lethbridge funk/ R and B/ disco collective Hippodrome have their annual Boxing Day show at the Slice, Dec. 26. So dance off those extra holiday pounds beginning at 9 p.m. There is a $10 cover.
If you are a little bit country Rancho Deluxe play the Slice with Doran Lee, Dec. 27. On the other hand if you are a little bit rock and roll, local punk/ rock band the Delawares return to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Dec. 27. The Owl is closed Dec. 24-26 for the holidays.

If you feel like performing, the Lethbridge Folk Club  have an open mic at the Wolf’s Den, Dec. 26 at 8 p.m.

There is a very special show for concert promoter Todd Lacharite on Dec. 27 at Average Joes.
Lethbridge folk/ indie rock band the Necessities play their annual reunion show with pop band Stars from Streetlights and local country band the Old Man River Band. There is a $10 cover for the show which begins at 9 p.m.

Herb Hicks will be playing some jazz music at Mocha Cabana for the weekend, Dec. 26 and 27. They will also be playing New Year’s Eve.
Local rock band Soup of Flies return to Casino Lethbridge for the weekend as well.
