Get an early taste of St. Patrick’s Day on Feb. 18 as Average Joes brings Canadian Celtic band The Irish Descendants to The Yates Theatre, Feb. 18.
But that same night, Vancouver indie rock band Mindil Beach play the Owl Acoustic Lounge. They played an absolutely stunning set of upbeat indie rock the last time they visited.
The Yates Theatre has a busy week as the grand finale concert of the Hometown Stars takes place, Feb. 20 from 6-9:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 adults, $15 students, $65 group rate for families.
It is a good week for jazz beginning on Wednesday as the Slice hosts their monthly jazz jam on Feb. 18. with hosts HBO3 who also have their regular Thursday night gig at Plum, Feb. 19.
It’s a busy week for James Oldenburg, who plays guitar in HBO3 as he also now has a regular suppertime gig on Thursday nights at CoCo Pazzo from 6-8 p.m
It is an excellent week for ’90s rock as new ’90s/ grunge band Bottoms Up play their debut show at the Slice, Feb. 20.
There are also some key folk and roots shows happening on the weekend.
Little Gillian and Ryland Moranz play the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Feb. 21 at approximately 9 p.m. The Lethbridge Folk Club brings in Calgary based bluegrass band Rotary Park to play the Cave at Lethbridge College.
The Slice has something special planned as well as they feature the reunion show of popular local indie rock band the Darby and Joan Club who play, Feb. 21.
If you want to laugh, the Trailer Park Boys return to Lethbridge to pay Bo Diddly’s a visit . Unfortunately the show is sold out.
But that’s not all.
Monday is a big night for live music.
Big Smo who combines country music with hip hop music, will be coming to the Average Joes for a show. beginning at 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25
Over at the University of Lethbridge, the Geomatic Attic brings in the Acoustical Sounds of Big Sugar to play University Theatre. They are touring in support of their new acoustic album Yardstyle. Tickets cost $40 The show also begins at 8:30 p.m.
For something a touch more pop CBC darlings the Elwins make their first visit to Lethbridge on the eve of the release of their latest album of indie pop music. There is a five dollar cover for that show as well.
And for something on the roots side of the spectrum, New Zealand born, Golden, B.C. based songwriter Benjamin Caldwell returns to the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Feb. 23 as well.
