It was a homecoming for Keri Latimer (McTighe) as she returned to Lethbridge, April 30, to play the Slice with her husband Devin playing bass plus Grant Davidson adding electric guitar and drummer Evan Friesen.
While I missed Grant Davidson and the same lineup playing as Slow Leaves, I caught the end of Latimer and Leaf Rapids’ set.
“ I write about the things I think about. And I’m a mother now,” she told 26 people intently listening to the music.
After which they played a sweet song about calling her daughter.
Their set was full of sweet, peppy country / folk music.
Devin Latimer stood back and played tasteful bass, while Keri Latimer alternated between playing acoustic guitar and theramin while singing and telling stories. Grant Davidson added tasteful guitar leads and rhythm and sang back up vocals.
They got political for a moment for a song about Rob Ford and wound down their set with a song about living on the Internet called “Virtual Machine”’ which allowed her to shine on some spooky theramin.
Some of their songs had a ’50s and ’60s pop feel.
