Cool cars and rock and roll go hand and hand so Street Wheelers weekend, July 8 and 9, will feature plenty of both. 
There will be a lot of cars circling the city down Mayor Magrath Drive and along 3rd Ave South and all along the way, bands are playing all over town including Fast Times at Backstreet South, June 8 beginning at 8 p.m.. For people whose tastes lean more towards hip hop, Backstreet South have Gray Area playing July 9 plus DJ Phenomenorm and Millz Skillz, Nickname and the Mighty Bridge plus Flam Boi, Trell and Nocturne beginning at 6 p.m. The other big rap show is an early show at Pulse, July 8 where Caspian will be performing with Slang and Sdk/ephin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10.
Whose Yer Daddy are at the 1010 Pub on July 8. Also on July 8, The Mark Hall band play the Smokehouse beginning at 7 p.m. and local blues rock band Coda play Casino Lethbridge, July 8 and 9.
The Slice brings back Patrick Alexandre Leclerc for a solo show, July 8. He is usually performing with Little Miss Higgins and the Winnipeg 5 and his band the F-Holes.
Also at the Slice, get ready to get funky with local trio Adequate and Edmonton blues/ funk/ soul quintet The Boogie Patrol. Admission is $10 for that show, which begins at 9 p.m.
Things get loud relatively early in the week at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, July 6 as Garrett Klahn of New York City emo/post hardcore band Texas is the Reason will be playing a solo show. We will be joined by Medicine Hat band Wint and Edmonton punk band the Slates, who were just here for the Electric Eye Music Festival. Admission is by donation.
The Owl Acoustic Lounge features a couple of indie rock shows on the weekend including Vancouver’s Marina and the Specks on July 8 and welcome back Calgary’s Windigo plus psychedelic folk and post rock band Andrew’s Pale Horses and Focus People,a Calgary indie-funk band including Anthony Biafore, Luke Smit, Justin Van Groningen and Sean Abercrombie.
For something a little mellower, Floyd Sillito plays his monthly set of old time country music at the Lethbridge Public Library at noon on Wednesday, July 6.
And finger-style guitarist Feifei Du has a show at Casa, July 9 at 8 p.m. Admission is $15.
For something a little different on the weekend, local artist Shannell Papp opens her new show, “Severed Heads” at Blueprint on July 9.
You can also get a taste of Shakespeare In The Park’s upcoming production of Romeo and Juliet this weekend.
There will be excerpts from the play plus lots of music at the Mocha Cabana, July 8 and at Streatside on July 9.
Down the road at the Twin Butte Store, Soulfest 10 happens this week beginning with Cam Penner, July 8. But the big day is July 9 when Scott MacLeod, Zonnis, Jay Aymar, Sean Burns, Andrew Scott, The Shaela Miller Band, The Bitterweed Draw, Cowpuncher and Little Miss Higgins & The Winnipeg Five will all be performing. Tickets for the weekend are $60.
