Local country musician Trevor Panczak is excited about his new CD “Where I Go To Come Back To” which was officially released on Sept. 15.
It contains all of the singles he has released over the past couple years including “ I Can Be The Lover,” “For a Girl,” “Tan Line” and his most recent single “ Blame It On the Whiskey” which is getting played on local country music radio station 95.5.
Panczak recorded the CD in Nashville with some high powered talent including Saskatchewan born/ Nashville raised guitarist and producer Bob Funk who has worked with some big names like Mark wills, Rodney Atkins, Ozzy Osbourne, Mackenzie Porter with Patricia Conroy and Beverley Mahood to name a few.
He has been spending the last couple of months close to home, performing several Calgary Stampede gigs including headlining Nashville North, performing for a week with New West Theatre, playing a variety of Canadian radio stations and lately playing for a variety of charities including the Lethbridge Therapeutic Riding Association, the Lethbridge Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Black Tie Gala and the Lethbridge Interfaith Food bank.
“Lethbridge is always where I Go To Come Back,” quipped Panczak, who has had the honour of opening for a variety of big names like Don Williams, the Zac Brown Band, Michelle Wright, Ian Tyson, Keith Urban Clint Black and Tim McGraw to name just a few.
He is a familiar face on the Average Joes stage as well.
He enjoys his long relationship with Bob Funk.
“I started working with him in 2011, so its been about six years now. He introduced me around to people in Nashville and made a real impact on my career. And I can still call him for advice about writing and the music business,” he said.
“I listened to about 64 or 65 songs.These are the very best of the best,” Panczak said.
Patricia Conroy and Tebey wrote “Tan Line” with Dannick Dupelle.”
“They sent it to the Shawn Sakamoto Agency who gave it to me. And daddy didn’t raise no fool, so I recorded it and I’m glad I did,” Panczak said.
“ Patricia Conroy sings background vocals on it. She’s married to Bob Funk. She’s just an amazing person,” he said.
Tebey also wrote “Hot Mess” on the CD.
Panczak is happy the record is finally done.
“It dropped on Sept. 15. It’s great. Making a record is kind of like gardening. You prepare the soil, plant the seeds , and see what grows. The songs are the seeds,so hopefully the public will like the taste of them,” he said.
He thanked his dedicated team including bassist and band mate Ray Banman and publicist Paula Danylevich who helped organize the big radio tour as well as television appearances on Global.
Panczak feels fortunate to have been able to cross off several bucket list items this year.
“ I had the opportunity to open for Willie Nelson. That was exciting. Sharing a stage with Willie Nelson was definitely a bucket list show,” he said.
“ I also got to open for Mark Chestnut at the Grande Prairie Stampede and I opened for the Washboard Union at the Shine on Music Festival And Corb Lund at Nashville North for the Calgary Stampede,” he enthused.
He also enjoyed working with the cast of New West Theatre for their HomeGrown show in July.
“I loved being able to work with Scott Carpenter and Kyle Gruninger and all of the cast,” he enthused.
