21st Avenue show their grunge influenced groovy side

E-mail Print PDF

I missed She Hangs Brightly’s return to  the Slice, Saturday, March 23.  I was in time  for new local band 21st Avenue. I only caught one s21st Avenue at the Slice,March 23. Photo by Richard Ameryide of  21st Avenue during CKXU ’s Musical Melee Battle of the Bands, last week, March 16, but caught the full experience, March 23 at the Slice.

Instead of a more country rock sound, this show was a heavier, more grunge and psychedelic rock influenced set.
They had plenty of groove and hot guitar solos and a lot of energy.

They wound up their set with covers of the Pixies’“ Where is my mind,” and  the Red Hot Chili Peppers’“Californication.”
New lead singer, Oztin Bowden, who sang quite well,  noted  he was usually a guitarist, and picked up guitar for the last couple of songs.
