Lots to do this week as venues reopen in July

It’s been a while since I’ve had enough upcoming events to write a week’s preview.

 However Lethbridge is all set to open July 1 as soon as Covid health restrictions lift as we enter Stage 3.

 

 All of our live music  entertainment have cool stuff happening

There are no Canada Day celebrations in Galt Gardens and Henderson Lake, but the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens has special programming happening, July 1 beginning at 1 p.m. with a tea ceremony. Minyo Dancing  is at 5:30 and the Lethbridge Community Taiko Drumming Association performs at 7 p.m.

 

The Slice celebrates the return of live music with an open mic at 8 p.m..

 Shaela Miller Day is from  4- 9 p.m. at the Owl Acoustic Lounge followed by Funk DJ Phenomenorm who also returns to the Owl, July 2.

 

It will be a busy weekend.

If You want to laugh, Good Times, re-opens Friday July 2 with local comedians Johnny Pogo and Faris Hytiaa, who also perform Saturday July 3.

 Friday night open mics return to Honker‘s Pub as Steve Keenan hosts the open mic after his set at 7 p.m.

 Saturday afternoon open mics return to Honker’s Pub with Frank G who  hosts the show at 4 p.m.

 

The Slice brings back Peter and the Wolves, Friday, July 2. They play three sets beginning at 8 p.m. There is a $15 cover.

 The Slice goes “Hip” on July 3 with the Trippy Hippys and Mark Hall’s Tragically Hip tribute Hip Trip. The show begins at 9 pm. there is a $10 cover.

 

 On the west side, Local rock band the Plaid Ramblers  play Mojo’s Pub, July 3 at 8 p.m. There is no cover for the show.

 There are two new open mics in town.

 

 New pop culture inspired bar The Coco Vanilla Galactic Cantina, at the old  Backstreet south building (1810 3 Avenue South) are hosting a new Family Jam beginning Sunday, July 4 at 4 p.m.

 They are also starting a new Monday night open mic on July 5 at 8 p.m.

 

 The Owl Acoustic Lounge restarts their weekly open mic, Tuesday, July 5.

 And Gabe Thaine’s High Level Variety is back at the Slice  On Tuesday, July 6 as well. There will be belly dancers, comedy and music and much more.
