International Peace Pow Wow and plenty of country this week

It is mostly country this week. But there is also a variety of  other live entertainment options.

The biggest event of the weekend  is at the Enmax Centre where  22nd Annual Peace powwow returns to  the Enmax Centre, Feb. 19 and 20. There will be plenty of Blackfoot culture, First Nations dancing and music  beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19. The Grand entry is at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The grand entry on Sunday is at noon. Doors open at  10 a.m.  Admission is $17 for students and seniors and $20 for adults. Children 12 and under get in for free.

 As usual the owl Acoustic lounge opens the live music menu with their usual Tuesday night open mic tonight.

 

It is always jazz night at the Watertower  Grill on Wednesday with  Don Rob  and Randy Epp performing from 6-8 p.m.

The Slice’s open mic is on Thursday.

 

 Coda Lite celebrate the lifting of Covid restrictions on Friday with Benny and Sheldon’s  Rock N Roll Bash and open jam at Honkers Pub, Friday, Feb. 18. Already some high calibre talent have signed up with Hosts Coda Lite (Ben Lamb And Sheldon Shukaliak, Alyssa McQuaid and Coyote Junction, F.O.E (Fractures of Etalon) and Rebel Angel’s ’50s dance band. the music begins at 7 p.m.

 

Honkers Pub features local country band  the Midnight Sons (bassist Ed Knelson, keyboardist Gary Drayton , guitarist Mark Hall, drummer Craig Fellner  and vocalist Bryan Horvat ) hosting the Saturday afternoon open mic.

The Slice has an eclectic weekend planned.

 Once again, they go punk on Friday with three excellent local punk rock bands performing including  The Oi Street Scoundrels  kicking things off at 8:30 p.m., Chernoff following them at 9 p.m. and Berserker closing off the night at 10 p.m. There is a $10 cover for the show.

The next night, Saturday, Feb. 19 is more country and folk with Saskatchewan Musician Jolie Blue and upright bassist Derek Pulliam and the Dark Wrangler aka Don Cassell and the talented local musicians he can “wrangle” up.

 

 The Owl Acoustic Lounge goes blues with Paul Kype and Texas Flood playing an acoustic show, Friday, Feb. 18. They also go country on Saturday with  West of the Fourth aka Connor Adams and Don Kinahan returning to the stage, Saturday, Feb. 19.

 

Lethbridge/Coaldale band The  Bow Valley Underground  (vocalist/guitarist Casey Hellawell vocalist/guitarist Kevin Viergutz, bassist Ric Johnson keyboardist/vocalist Bruce Mackay and drummer Bob Gammon return to Casino Lethbridge this weekend, where they will be playing blues, rock and country hits all night long.

 

 The Lethbridge Handmade Market returns to Exhibition Park  Feb. 19 as well. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is five dollars.

 

 There are lots of laughs this weekend too. The winners from the Owl Acoustic Lounge’s So You Think You can Comic, monthly showcase, will be performing at Good Times, Friday, Feb. 18. Cole Howg and Alex Carr will be performing beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is $10.

 Scott Belford returns to Good Times, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. Admission is $15.

 

 Out of town,  The McDades  will be playing Celtic  infused with a touch of jazz music at the Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $37.50.

 Saints And Sinners rock KCs Pub in Coaldale, Feb. 19.

 

The next week begins early with a  big show at the Geomatic Attic featuring Toronto based  R and B and soul musician Tanika Charles, performing at 8 p.m. Get ready to move. She is releasing a new single  “Different Morning” featuring  DijahSB off her upcoming third album “Papillon de Nuit ” on Friday. Tickets are $35.
