Several local bands are helping Womanspace raise much needed funding, July 9 at the Slice.
Beginning at 8:30 p.m. John Greenshields, The Fred Penner Revival and the Record Holder will all be performing.
“Our funding from the government has been cut, so we have to raise money to provide basic services,” said event organizer Kelly Suschinsky adding this is only one of several events being held to help keep the doors open and provide services like financial management for women who need them.
“We can’t keep the office open for regular office hours,” she said adding she is friends with the Record Holder, so they were her first choice to play for this fundraiser.
“We want to keep the event pretty low key while still having a lot of people,” she said adding she hopes the event will sell out.
“It will be good times and good music for a good cause. It should be a good crowd because the Record Holder have good following,” she said adding this will be the first in a series of events designed to help Womanspace.
They need to raise a total of between $700-$1,000.
“I think it’s going to be a great night to have people come out and support Womanspace,” she said adding they are also in the process of applying for grants.
Tickets cost $7 in advance, $10 at the door.
