Aaron Pritchett returns to Lethbridge, Feb. 13. The Nanaimo based Canadian country star will be playing the Enmax Centre with Matt Lang and Cory Marks in support of their new single and the tour’s namesake “Liquored Up.”
Pritchett just released a video for the new single “Liquored Up,” featuring Matt Lang and Cory Marks.
“We filmed it at a one of my favourite bars in Nanaimo. Cory and Matt flew in for it and we brought in. friends and family to make it look like a big party, which it was,” enthused Pritchett, noting an up and coming videographer Sean Lyons films the video.
“It just dropped yesterday at 3 p.m. EST and response has been excellent,” Pritchett enthused, noting he is looking forward to being back on the road for a proper tour.
He last played Lethbridge in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic, as part of a ‘drive-in” tour, where his audience listened to the show in their vehicles outside the Enmax Centre.
“ That was fun, but It will be nice to actually see people’s faces and be able to high five them in in the front row rather than listening to horns honk and seeing a bunch of windshields,“ he said, adding the Liquored Up tour will be the first proper tour in five years.
This tour won’t be the usual format with opening acts playing before Pritchett.
“ We’ll be on stage together a lot. Cory and Matt both have new albums coming out and I have a new album coming out this year. I’ll be playing a lot of my hits,” he said. He has a plethora of hits to choose from including crowd favourite “ Hold My Beer,” “My Way, “ Worth a Shot,” “Boat on the Water,” and “Dirt Road in Em.”
They will be sharing the band including bassist Shane Hendrickson, drummer Jayson Brinkworth, guitarist Scott Smith and Pritchett’s son Jordan also playing guitar.
“ Our usual guitarist also tours with City and Colour so he wasn’t available, but Jordan was. He’s great. He’s matured a lot. He also produced my new album,” Pritchett said, adding the new album, called ‘Demolition,’ will be released later this year. The next single, “Just Wanna Feel It,” will be released ion Feb. 2.
“ It’s done, but we don’t have a release date for it yet. We will be releasing singles before that. Some of them are brand new songs. Some go back to 2010. I wrote “ Hungover But Hanging On” in 2010 with my guitarist Scott Smith, but haven’t recorded it until now. It’s probably to most traditional country song I’ve written. But there is also a lot of pop country,” he said.
He enjoyed working with his son, who was part of alternative rock band Faber Drive for nine years. He also plays in a duo called Cross Parallel with his wife Danielle, who is pregnant.
“ So I’m going to be a grandfather which is hard to believe,” he said.
Pritchett’s long standing touring band is on the new CD with him, which is a first.
“It’s pretty wild. I always wanted them on the record, but the record company aways said no. But my son thought they were worthy and said yes,” he enthused, adding he brought a more modern feel to the new music.
“He’s 33 and played with Faber Drive, so he knows pop music and country music,” he said.
Pritchett is excited about life and the new music.
“Me and my girlfriend just finished building a house and now I’m not the road for six and a half weeks,” he said.
After that he plans to release the new album, with a twist.
“We’re releasing 300 copies on vinyl. Most of them are black. But one of them is a gold record. We’ll play a house concert for whoever gets the gold record. Well all fly in and play for you where ever you want us too,” he said.
