The Place wasn't packed, but they still had a good crowd, Saturday, May 18 for the New Dawn fundraiser, which featured  The Plaid Ramblers,  Obsidian Soul and SI.

All three bands  include members of the Lethbridge Fire Department, police and first responders so they were an idea fit for a foundation that supports First Responders and their families in times of sickness.

While I missed the first two acts, i caught SI, who I usually miss when they play multi-band shows.

They were on point and in a late ’90s  alternative rock pocket.

They began their set with an assortment of anthemic originals  along the lines of I Mother Earth and Our Lady Peace. Bassist and firefighter Duane Kiever added gang vocals  to songs full of big, detuned riffs.

They tried to get the audience to shout along with “ Are you Ready To Go.”

S-I added more of a grunge influence to “ To The Sky” and got back to the ’90s / 2000s feel for the upbeat and catchy “12 Days.”

They got the crowd involved again dedicated to all the single people in the audience e called “ Do You Want to.”
