Christmas Farmer’s market
Fri, Nov 27
Lethbridge Exhibition Park - Lethbridge

Time: 1-8 p.m.

November 9, 2020

To our valued Big Christmas guests, vendors and partners:

We are thrilled to be able to host the Big Christmas Farmers’ Market & Tradeshow on November 13 and 14 and again November 27 and 28.  This annual event has been formatted to fit all Alberta Health Services (“AHS”) protocols and social-distancing regulations. The health and safety of our vendors, customers, community members and staff has always been our number one priority and to ensure this, we have adapted our pandemic response and social-distancing plans.

The hours for the first show will be:

  • Friday, November 13, 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 14, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The entrance to the show will be through the West Pavilion for prescreening and contact tracing.  The entrance will be open one (1) hour before the show opens and will close one to two hours before the show ends.  Closing the entrance prior to the end of the show ensures that everyone who comes to the show has enough time to partake.  There is no admission charge for the show on November 13 and 14.

The hours for the second show will be:

  • Friday, November 27, 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 28, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The entrance(s) will be through the West Pavilion and Heritage Hall for prescreening and contact tracing.  The admission gates will be open one (1) hour before the show opens and will close two (2) hours before the show ends.  Closing the admission gates prior to the end of the show ensures that everyone who comes to the show has enough time to partake.  There is a $3.00 admission charge and $5.00 parking for the show on November 27 and 28.

The addition of a parking charge this year to the second show is to help offset the costs associated with the COVID-19 protocols of both shows which include but are not limited to electronic prescreening, contact tracing, enhanced sanitation, hands-free sanitizer stations and occupancy controls. The measures we have put in place exceed the recommendations of AHS. The delivery of events in a safe and responsible way and to ensure that everyone goes home safe is our highest priority.

Thank you, stay safe and be kind,

David Little

For guests, the Market now embraces a new look and feel while adhering to the latest pandemic rules and regulations. Featuring separate entrance and exits points as well larger aisles and hand-washing stations.  All guests are asked to continue to follow recommended sanitation and physical distancing practices while attending the market.

Our first concern is for the health and safety of our staff, exhibitors and guests. In conjunction with Alberta Health Services and municipal bylaws we have established our COVID-19 protocols for Lethbridge & District Signature Events.

Capacity will be controlled at the entrances based on the number of guests in the show. Staff will be stationed at the exits so they can count the number of guests leaving. Exit staff will radio entrance staff to allow for more guests to enter from the queue area.

The front gates will be closed earlier than the end time of the show to allow for guests to have adequate time to enjoy the event. This will be based on the average queue time so we can ensure guests will not be in the queue when the show ends.

All event attendees, staff, volunteers, and exhibitors are required by AHS to fill out a pre-screening form. This can be completed electronically and must be completed within 24 hours prior to attending the event. If pre-screening is not completed by the guest before the event, there will be QR codes available at the entrance area. The QR code can be scanned and the survey can be quickly completed on a phone. If this is not an option, there will be a staff member with a tablet to type in contact tracing information and ask the pre-screening questions.

  • Perform frequent hand hygiene. This could include both hand sanitizer and/ or hand washing.
  • Exhibitor and public pre-screening forms must be submitted electronically no more than 24 hours before arrival. If you are unable to submit them electronically than you must fill one out upon arrival.
  • Booth set ups are recommended to allow for 2ft of space for customers to step into a booth space to reduce crowding in the aisles.
  • Vendors may only serve one customer or cohort group at one time per 10’ section of booth.
  • Minimize the handling of money whenever possible.
  • Sanitize electronic keypads after every use.
  • Ask customers to refrain from touching and encourage them to point to items.

  • All exhibitors, staff and visitors are required to wear a mask or face shield for the duration of time inside Exhibition Park.
  • Exhibitors may set up a permanent barrier as an alternative to wearing a mask, however they will need to wear a mask if not behind it.
  • If are unable to wear a mask for any reason we ask that you inform our event staff.
  • Masks are required to be worn properly which means that it must fully cover the nose, mouth, and chin. There are no required materials that they are required to be made of. An acceptable alternative to wearing a mask is face shields and barriers erected by exhibitors.
  • Disposable masks will be for sale at the entrance in case a guest forgets to bring one. There are also many exhibitors in the show selling reusable masks.
  • Children under the age of 2 are exempt.

  • Food is permitted in prepackaged closed containers only.
  • There is no dine-in or seating permitted at the event.
  • Please follow all concession signage and regulations.

Exhibition Park has a team of janitorial staff that will be cleaning bathrooms every two hours throughout the show. They will be checking/replacing hand sanitizer at all the stations throughout the show. All touchpoints will be sanitized throughout the show.

The event map is designed to promote physical distancing for all exhibitors and guests. Aisles are a minimum of 15 - 19 ft wide. All Exhibitor booths are separated from nearby booths by an 8 ft drape wall behind and beside. The only exception to this is exhibitors in cohort groups that request to work together throughout the show.

Exhibitors are encouraged to design their booths in a way that promotes physical distancing and minimizes the amount of product handling by customers. They may also erect a barrier between themselves and customers to promote physical distancing.
