The Slice was quiet on Friday, Sept. 17 for a hot performance by Tyler Allen and the Red Hot Hayseeds.
The Red Hot hayseed had a red hot vintage classic country sound, in part to ’40s sounding background vocalists Dayna Lyn Moritz and the multi-talented Sydney Zadravec who also added extra guitar while frontman Tyler Allen played pedal steel guitar for a couple songs.
Sweet clarinet playing from Cedric Blary added to the band’s vintage western swing sound.
Drummer Eric Allen and Keith Rodger held down the bottom end on upright bass.
They played familiar western swing music and a Patsy Cline deep cut, but also added a few songs from their new EP including “ Ain’t No Cowpoke.”
“ I Don’t Want a Second Hand Romance was a highlight as was an upbeat cover of Hank Williams’ “ Rolypoly.”
