Today is the last day to get tickets for the seventh annual LSCO Accordion Festival, which takes  place, Oct. 16 at the 

  Lethbridge Seniors Citizens Organization.

 There will be 17 accordion coming from all over southern Alberta, including one coming from Rocky Mountain House. Each performer will play three songs, then all of them will be on stage together to perform “Edelweiss.”

While it is not being billed an Oktoberfest event, there will be oom pah pah music as well as a dinner of Wiener Schnitzel, bratwurst and sauerkraut.

“Accordion music is such happy music. People are up  and dancing. It’s fun music. I wish I could play accordion, but I just get to accompany them,” said Annabelle Herle, who doesn’t play accordion, but who will be backing up the performers  on banjo.

But it is not just oom pah music, there are a variety of styles  from old tyme country to classical. The performers range in age from students to seniors.

 The deadline to buy tickets is Oct. 8 to ensure there will be enough food. There are 200 tickets available, 102 had been sold by the beginning of the week.

Bart Kessler, Bob Sanderson, Gladys Rushfeldt, Annabelle Herle and Howard Myers will be providing musical accompaniment for the show.

Ed Herle and Howard Myers will be the MCs for the show.

Tickets cost $20.
