A couple of really cool events are happening this week. First off, this is the weekend where hippies, yippies, folkies and basically anybody who loves music and want to relax in the sun in a laid back atmosphere for a weekend congregate in Fort Macleod for the South Country Fair.
The fun officially begins Friday night with an outstanding line up including Lethbridge talent like Shaela Miller, The Darby and Joan Club and Treeline. Shaela Miller plays the song she wrote to win the South Country Fair songwriting contest this year , “Loving You” during her set at 10 p.m. Saturday night on the South Stage, while the Darby and Joan Club are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Sunday on the east stage and Treeline is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on the East Stage, Saturday afternoon.
Other highlights include Juno Award winner Jenny Whiteley who is playing Saturday night at 7:40 p.m. and Twilight Hotel who will be a Friday evening highlight along with Cumako who played at the lineup announcement party , May 30 at the Slice.
The United Steelworkers of Montreal are going to be another popular act Saturday night as will Woodpigeon on Saturday afternoon.
If you want to be in a music video, New Brunswick country singer Julian Austin will be filming one, July 18 for his next hit “If Houston Doesn’t Want You.” If you are interested meet at Henotic, the old fire hall at noon where the street party scene takes place. The shoot takes place until 8 p.m. and the day winds up with a special show at Average Joe’s Downtown at 10 p.m. A limited number of tickets will be sold for $20 each.
The full schedule is available at www.scfair.ab.ca.
