The Owl Acoustic Lounge hosted an eclectic night of rock music at their after party for CKXU’s Love and Records 2013, Sept. 14.
While I unfortunately missed Pandacorn, I was very impressed by fellow Saskatchewan band Indigo Joseph.
They touched on a variety of styles of music including a touch of keyboard powered ’80s rock, a little bit of soul and R and B, some upbeat Beatles style pop and catchy garage rock.
They had a rock solid groove throughout their set, which was all the more impressive as the individual band members effortlessly switched instruments while barely missing a beat. Their last song “Then I’ll be happy” was one of my favourites,” which was made all the more fascinating as one of the band members put on a giraffe head mask.
Calgary’s “Go For the Eyes”, hot off the heels of playing the Labour Day Classic football game were next with a hot set of energetic rock. They get better every time I see them. There were a lot of keyboards, a lot of melody and vocalist Elise Roller jumped all over the stage, playing keyboards and singing.
