Delawares and Cosmic Charley playing new music

While I missed Cosmic Charley’s CD release party at the Owl Acoustic Lounge June 20, I made a point of catching them at the Slice, June 28, where they were playing the Ruby Plumes CD release party with the Delawares. The Delawares Zach Passey at the Slice. Photo by Richard Amery

I'd never heard the Delawares before, so was pleased to catch their set of loud, catchy vaguely menacing punk/ alternative rock music.

They played an intense set of original post punk music incorporating two guitars, keyboards, bass and drums. They had a heap of energy as frontman Zach Pasey leaped all over the stage and howled the lyrics.

Cosmic Charley put on their usual energetic set of funk rock which had more of a straight ahead rock sound then the Red Hot Chili Peppers funk punk they usually payed.

There was plenty of  intricate bass lines and funky guitars though from the trio. They played many if the highlights form their new, self titled CD including “ Asexual” and “ Don’t Know What I’m Doing” and a few older songs like the always catchy “ I’m not Crying, I’ve Got Something in My Eye.”
