Central alberta country trio Hoots and the Boots played a witty throwback to ’50s country for a quiescent crowd at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Saturday, March 14.

Tyler “Grits” Allen played a variety of classic country style originals like “Drunk Forever” as well as songs from “young up and comers” like Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. Boots Graham had a similar quirky old country vibe to Vancouver country singer Petunia. He cracked earthy jokes and grinned throughout their set.

 Their cover of Johnny Cash’s “ Hey Porter” was a highlight as was “Coffee Blues.”
