The Provincial Archive blend introspective indie rock and grunge

While  I caught the Perpetrators on a set break, April 30, I made a point of catching Edmonton rock trio the Provincial Archive at the  Owl Acoustic Lounge. The Provincial Archive winding up their April 30 show. Photo by Richard Amery

Their bassist was doubling on keyboards for some of their more, slower, introspective songs, but rocked out with his bandmates for their last few songs of the set, which definitely held the torch of ’90s grunge and garage rock.

They tapped into the spirit of ’90s grunge rockers Nirvana throughout, mixing it with ambient indie rock.

“No One Knows Me Better” and  “Absorbed,” from their 2105 CD were highlights and they finished their set with  Church Clothes,” from their most recent self titled CD.
