Richard Inman debuts new band for set of outlaw country

New Lethbian Richard Inman doesn’t really need a band. He can hold a stage and enrapture  a crowd with just his tender fingerpicked guitar and big resonant, velvety baritone voice. And usually does.

But having a hot band behind him at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Friday, Oct. 15 took him to another level.

Lethbridge’s best rhythm section Paul Holden and Brad Brouwer anchored the tunes letting Inman, a steel guitarist, guitarist and lead guitarist paint  beautiful music on the pages of another great night out.

I arrived in the middle  of a cover of Chris Knight’s “It Ain’t Easy Being Me,” made famous by John Anderson and Tyler Childers.

They worked their way through a solid set of outlaw country including covers of Waylon Jennings ’s Waymore’s Blues” and Billy Joe Shaver’s “ Georgia on a Fast Train.”

He snuck one of his gorgeous originals, powered by that fantastic finger picking. I would have liked to hear a lot more of his originals backed by his band.

He invited Megan Brown on stage to add some fiddle to the last couple tracks of the set including a Turnpike Troubadours’ song.
