November opens with a whole lot of jazz music.

But first, the Slice celebrates 16 years as Lethbridge’s go to venues for original live music with a 16th anniversary jam on Tuesday. Everybody is welcome to get up and play beginning at 9 p.m.

 

If you didn’t get enough playing, as usual, the Owl Acoustic Lounge has their weekly open mic on Tuesday as well.

 And if you think you’re funny, Good Times’ weekly comedy open mic is also on Tuesday.

 

The Watertower has turned Wednesday nights into  jazz night with host Don Robb.

 There will be live jazz music from 6-8 p.m. every Wednesday.

Jazz jams are back at the Owl Acoustic Lounge this week.

 HBO3 hosts the jazz jam from  8-10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4.

 

The Geomatic Attic opens up a new downtown space next to Bread, Milk and Money (427 – 5 Street South) with ES:MO aka Montreal pianist/singer Elizabeth Shepherd and Toronto guitarist Michael Occhipinti plus drummer Tony Ferraro. Tickets are $45. The show begins at 8 p.m.

 

There is more comedy on Thursday with  the Canadian Brewhouse’s comedy club night.

 And the Slice has their usual Thursday night open mic.

 

 It may be a week late, but Oktoberfest returns to Exhibition Park, Nov. 5-7. The Pogo Brothers and Alpen Schatz will be providing the entertainment in the North Pavilion. Tickets are $11.62 through  Eventbrite. Doors open at 4 p.m. on Friday

On Friday, Nov. 5, Saskatchewan singer songwriter Connie Kaldor visits the Empress Theatre. The show begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $37.50

There is a lot of different things happening on the weekend.

 

Calgary dream pop/ indie rock band Astral Swans return to the Owl Acoustic Lounge with Makiisma. Admission to that show is by donation.

 The Lethbridge Girls Rock Camp’s Family jams return to the Owl Acoustic stage on Saturday afternoon.

 

Calgary rockabilly band Peter and the Wolves return to the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Saturday, Nov. 6. There is a $10 cover  for that show.

 The Slice has a big punk show on Saturday, Nov. 6 with Calgary bands Deville and the Moröns plus Lethbridge’s Sessions. Admission is $15.

There is plenty of comedy this weekend.

 

 The third edition of Impromptu’s Drunk Improv is at Didi’s Playhaus on Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance for whatever you are able to pay.

 

 Over at Good Times, Calgary comedian Jeremy Furlong performs on Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.

 Good Times features  Calgary comedian Juan Forno on Saturday. Tickets are $16.64.
