The Chevelles play a smorgasbord of hits.

The Chevelles returned to the Place, Saturday, June 4 with their usual smorgasbord of popular hits.

They didn’t have as big of a crowd as they usually draw, but gave it everything as usual, playing  a variety of hits from the ’60s to today, but were in a ’70s and ’80s space for the set I caught.

I arrived in the middle of “Play That Funky Music White Boy.”

They showed  some punk leanings in their cover of Billy Idol’s cover of “Mony Mony.” And Iggy Pop’s “Real Wild One.”

Keyboardist Scott Kananshiro was multi-tasking as usual on guitar also took the lead vocals on “ Spirit In the Sky.”

They ended their set with a more modern song about dancing.
