Summer hits its stride this week as July ends with a roar and a plenitude of shows.
The Lethbridge International airshow is back at the Lethbridge airport so expect to hear the roar of jet engines, July 30 and 31. The features plenty of aerial performers, a classic car show n shine, monster truck rides, food trucks , a trade show, displays and a beer garden.
Luke James Bruce hosts the open mic at Mojo’s Pub tonight, Monday, July 25. It is one of several open mics happening this week.
The Owl Acoustic Lounge has their usual Tuesday night open mic and they have something special for their end of the month poetry open mic on Wednesday.
In addition to Teri Petz’s poetry open mic, Wednesday, July 27, Kris Demeanor and Carolyn Mark will be performing.
Also on Wednesday, July 27, Gabe Thaine and Friends host their monthly jam for hunger. Thaine and friends play at 8 p.m. followed by the jam at 8:45 p.m.
Good Time Charlie host Honkers Pub‘s open mic on Friday Night.
There is no open mic at Honkers Pub on Saturday because there is an airshow event.
Festivals and concerts series continue this week.
This is the last week to catch Hootenanny’s summer production of The Junk Show at Galt Gardens this week. So check out this family friendly New West theatre production at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
Reuben and the Dark, Bullhorn singers and Makiisma perform on the Park n Ride rooftop for the Wide Skies Music Festival, Wednesday, July 27. Makiisma opens the show at 8 p.m.
Tickets are by donation, but you must register in advance as seating is limited.
Upside Downtown features Steven William Foord playing from 5-7 p.,m. followed by The Lethbridge Shakespeare Performance Society’s production of Hamlet. This will be the last performance in the Casa courtyard. They will be performing in Galt Gardens next Thursday.
Down the street, Tyson Ray Borsboom and Kevin Giron perform on the stage outside of Telegraph Taphouse at 7 p.m., July 28.

The Slice has a big metal show on Thursday featuring Mexican progressive rock band Lost Nebula with Vancouver symphonic metal band Ophelia Falling and local rock band Chernoff. Tickets are $15 in advance through Eventbrite or $20 at the door. The music begins at 9 p.m.
The Mark Hall band rock Casino Lethbridge Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.
For comedy, Pro-Amateur night is back at Good Times on Thursday, July 28. It is a chance for newbies to strut their stuff and more experienced comedians to try out new material. Tickets are five dollars. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the laughs beginning at 7 p.m.
El Salvador born comedian Marito Lopez returns to Good Times, Friday, July 29 for a show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $16.67
And Drunk Improv Summer Break returns to the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Thursday, July 28 at at 8 p.m. Host David Gabert leads a talented cast of improvisers though some of your favourite improv games. The cast features Mark Olgle, Jon Kirch, Jay Whitehead and Brent Clark. Admission is by donation.
It’s a good week to catch acts you may have missed last week
If you missed Makiisma at the Wide Skies Music Festival, she plays the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Friday July 29.
If you missed local Def Leppard Tribute at Prairiepolooza this weekend, they will be playing an air show themed show at the Place with Runaway The Bon Jovi tribute Runaway . Admission is $10 general, $15 Top Gun Seating and $40 big bomber command seats.
If you missed 21st Avenue at the Owl Acoustic lounge on the weekend, they will be at the Slice on Friday, July 29.
If you want to take a road trip to the mountains, The Crowsnest Pass Doors Open and Heritage Festival is happening Thursday, July 28- Saturday, July 30.
Live music will be featured at a variety of venues in the Crowsnest pass including the Crowsnest Community Market, Frank Slide Interpretive Centre , Pass Beer Company, MDM Launch event, Pure Country, The Cosmopolitan, The Grand Union, Felmerfeldt park, Coleman Legion and Lumber Pine Smokehouse, Blairmore Gazebo park, Encounters Wine Bar and Springbank Flower Farm.
There will be some familiar faces performing including Coda Lite , who will be at the Cosmopolitan, Friday, July 29 at 7 p.m. and Suzanne Scott who will be at the Frank Slide interpretive Centre, Thursday, July 28 at the grand gala, which is a ticketed event. she will also be at Pass Beer Co., Saturday, July 30 at 6 p.m.,
Lani Folkard will be playing Pure Country, at 5 p.m. Friday, July 29.
