Plenty of plays and roots music to open November

I’m going to be on vacation this week on the  Outlaw Cruise West with X, Los Lobos, Social Distortion and Steve Earle and Dave Alvin to name a few,  but there are already a lot of great shows planned in Lethbridge for early November, which I’m unfortunately going to miss. But that doesn’t mean you have to miss out.

There are a couple great plays happening.

 Lethbridge Musical Theatre’s production of 9 to 5 the musical continues this week Wednesday Through Saturday.

 The University of Lethbridge’s main stage production of Dr. Faustus runs from Nov. 1-5 in  the David Spinks Theatre. Also happening at the university,  the Opera Workshop concert is  Nov. 4  in the recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.

 

 Get social with SAAG and check out their exhibits for one more time before new exhibits are installed, at the second annual SAAG social, Thursday, Nov. 3 from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $20 for SAAG members, $45 for non-members including an annual membership for this important Fundraiser for the Southern Alberta Art Gallery.There will be ice cream samples from Milkman Milk Bar, Flamingo Floss cotton candy courtesy Urban Studio Interior Design, beverages from Last Best Brewing and Distilling,  a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and more. The Owl Acoustic Lounge’s poutine bar returns as does Owl Acoustic Lounge co-owner Steven William Foord, who will be performing with  Jess Tollestrup and Lolly Willowes.

Theoretically Brewing hosts a Celtic Jam with Celtic Routes, Nov.  3 from 7-9 p.m.

 

 Listen to a little classical music as Lunch and Listen returns to Casa at 12: 15 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4 with  Deanna Oye and Bradley Parker.

Excellent local country/ indie rock band Starpainter return to the Owl Acoustic lounge, Nov 4. Corduroy Brown and Makiisma return to the Owl Acoustic lounge Stage, Saturday, Nov. 5.

And down the street, Edmonton based roots rockers Sparrow Blue play the Slice, Nov. 4.

 

 Jazz Saturdays return to Streatside Eateries, Saturday, Nov. 5 with Paul Holden and James Oldenburg performing from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Coda Lite host Honkers Pub’s open mic on Friday Nov. 4 and JDS  host Honkers pub’s open mic on Saturday, Nov. 5.

 

The Bridgette Yarwood kick off a hot month at Casino Lethbridge on Friday and Saturday

Filipino alt Rock band Sponge Cola  play Southminster United Church, Sunday Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $65, $80 and $95 VIP.

 

There are lots of laughs this week. Ladies night returns to Good Times on Thursday, Nov. 3 with headliner Lori Gibbs plus Brandi Thomas, Shealeigh Smith and Alli Price. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Drunk Improv returns to Didi‘s Playhaus on Nov. 5 at  7 p.m. Admission is pay what you can.

Steve Taddy will be making you laugh at Good Times with host Anton Matayushin and Bryan Moxon Friday and Saturday.

 

The next week will be off the hook.

 Barney Bentall brings back the Cariboo Express Fundraiser for youth One on Monday, opening another busy month for the Geomatic Attic. Tickets are from $30- $50. Doors open at  7 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m.

The next night Canadian classic rock icon  Bryan Adams is supporting his fifteenth album with the So Happy it Hurts Tour coming to the Enmax Centre, Tuesday, Nov. 8 Tickets are $124.50, $102.50, $85.50 and are going fast. He is touring in support of his 15th album.
