I’m rocking on a boat this week, so Lethbridge will rock without me this week.

 

 The biggest event is the International Peace Powwow at the Enmax Centre, Feb. 25 and 26. Expect flashing colours, ethereal chanting, thunderous drums, amazing dancing  and a whole lot of Blackfoot culture, Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $33 for the weekend, $20 for adults for a day and $17 for students and seniors.

 

The Owl acoustic lounge starts hopping early with their open mic on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

 

 Teri Petz winds down February with the monthly poetry open mic at the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Theatre Outré returns to the Owl Acoustic Lounge stage on Thursday, Feb. 23.

 

For jazz music, Sheena Lawson and Randy Epp play the Watertower Grill, Wednesday, Feb. 22.

 There is also a regular jazz show every Sunday at the Nikka Yuko Bunka Centre with Midnight Channel, performing at 7 p.m.

 

On the weekend, neo country/psychedelic country band Kid Cali and Tori Morley play the Owl on Friday, Feb. 24.

 The Owl rocks to the sounds of Saskatchewan psychedelic metal band Grimelda, formerly the Faps, plus Lady Grime and Black Roses for Breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 25.

 

The Slice also has a busy week beginning Wednesday, Feb. 22 when they welcome award winning Calgary based songstress Laura Hickli plus Max Hopkins and Wendy Colby  to the stage Wednesday, Feb. 22.

 

Hickli begins an international tour in Lethbridge in support of her new record “Both Feet in the World, At Least I Can Stand.” Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $17.31 through Eventbrite. 

 

Calgary based country singer/ songwriter Carter Felker returns to the Slice, Feb. 23 with Scott D Mackay.

 Things get loud enough to shake the Earth at the Slice, Saturday, Feb. 25 with Southern Alberta rock / metal band Eons of Earth and Edmonton based metal band Fall of Earth hitting the stage at 9 p.m.. Admission is $15.

 

HBS Lounge at the Holiday bowl welcome CCR tribute Creedence Clearwater Reprisal to their stage on Friday, Feb. 24. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 or $35 for the front row.

 

Southern Alberta rock, pop and county band Lawless Murphy returns to Casino Lethbridge on the weekend.

 The JDs host Honkers Pub’s Friday open mic, Feb. 24.

 

Luke James Bruce hosts Honker’s Pub’s open mic on Feb. 25. He is also hosting an open mic at Mojo’s Pub on Monday, Feb. 27.

 

 There are a couple of great comedy shows this week.

 

 Danger Cats comedy featuring Uncle Hack, Sam Walker and Brett Forte who perform at the Yates Theatre Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25.

YukYuks comedy returns to  the Canadian brewhouse, Feb. 24 with Mark Breslin, Lori Ferguson - Ford. Tickets are $20.

 

 El Salvador born comedian Marito “Papi” Lopez returns to Good Times Friday and Saturday. He performs at 8 p.m. each night. Tickets are $16.67.

 

There is a special musical fundraiser at Theoretically Brewing, Sunday, Feb. 26 . Local musician  Gabe Thaine is planning a website connecting musicians and arts groups. Thaine, Bridgette Yarwood, Danica Sommer, Cordurroy Brown, Chris Drew and more will be performing from noon to 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26 at Theoretically Brewing.

 

 There are regular noon time concerts in the University of Lethbridge Recital Hall. Music at Noon features John-Paul Ksiazek (piano) and Christine Bootland (cello) on Tuesday, Feb. 28 beginning at 12:15.
