Plenty of plays and plenitude of music for Easter long weekend

Celebrate Easter weekend with live music and plenty of the best kind of drama.

Things start early this week with the Music at Noon showcase at  the University Theatre hall at noon, Tuesday, April 4.

 The Geomatic Attic opens the week  by Welcoming Calgary based  alt folk band Reuben and the Dark to the Southminster United Church, Tuesday, April 4. They play at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45.

 

Sheena Lawson and Randy Epp return to the Watertower Grill, on  Wednesday, April 5.

The Owl Acoustic Lounge hoists a comedy open mic on Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday Bridgette Yarwood hosts the Slice’s open mic on Wednesday.

 

Celebrate the long weekend ’80s style.

 Dave Chomiak from local Def Leppard Tribute Stage Fright has set up three rocking days of ’80s tributes at the Place.

 Thursday, April 6 features tributes to the Police, Heart and Bon Jovi.

 

It is hair metal night on Friday with Stage Fright: the Def Leppard Tribute and tributes to Iron Maiden and Dokken

The weekend winds up with tributes to Motley Crüe,Iron Maiden and the Scorpions.

Tickets are $25 a night, $50 for any two nights, $30 for Saturday night or $60 for all three.

 

 There is a lot of country music happening on Saturday.  Trevor Christensen and El Mule with Noeline Hofman return to the Slice, April 7.

 

Alyssa McQuaid and Coyote Junction rock Casino Lethbridge country style on  Friday and Saturday.

 

 A new local supergroup, Chin Music show their jazz chops at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, April 7. They feature Keenan Pezderic, Paul Holden and Taylor Ackerman.

 Paul Kype and Steve Keenan return to Honkers Pub to play the blues for you on  Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m. They Are closed for Good Friday.

 Ol Ben and Friends play the Slice on Saturday, April 8. 

 

Down the road in Fort Macleod,  Longview roots/ swing duo Over the Moon hit the stage at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30.

Blues jams return to the Slice stage on Tuesday, April 11.

  Tickets go on sale Tuesday for a special performance by Whitehorse at the Owl Acoustic lounges who will be playing the SAAG art auction afterparty, May 6. Tickets are $45.

There is a lot of comedy and drama this week.

 Saskatchewan born Calgary based comedian Cory Mack Returns to Good Times for Ladies night, Thursday, April 6 with Amy Edgar and Jessica Momoh and Host Meagan Windle. Tickets are $14.95. Mack performs solo shows at Good Times on Friday and Saturday.

Quaint, Quirky and Queer opens April 6 with Deonie Hudson and Lyndsay Labreque’s play “ How To Make Electronic Music.” at Did’s Playhaus. The play, running April 6-8 opens three busy weeks of Quaint , Quirky and Queer events.

 Playgoers of Lethbridge hosts the One Act Play festival at the Sterndale Bennett Theatre, Saturday, April 8 beginning at 5 p.m. There are four plays in this year’s festival. Admission is $10 at the door.
