There is a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving weekend and a lot  to think the best for. Unfortunately Beatles drummer Ringo Starr just cancelled several shows on his tour with the All Stars including his Lethbridge show on Thursday, Oct. 6 after contracting covid, but there is still a lot happening in Lethbridge this week, especially on Thursday.

 Things start tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 4 as the University of Lethbridge opens their first main-stage production of the year. Harold Pinter penned comedy The Dumb Waiter runs Oct. 4- Saturday, Oct. 8 in the David Spinks theatre at 7:30 p.m. each night.

 Director Gabriel Houle describes the The Dumb Waiter “ A truly immersive experience.” 

“Gus and Ben are in a decrepit basement waiting for orders regarding an assignment. They’re there as a team, but what happens when the channels of communication start to break down? The Dumb Waiter, by Harold Pinter, immerses audiences into an intimate yet absurd world.”

Also on the comedic front,  Ladies night returns to Good Times on Thursday with Michaela Chung and Sara Stupar plus host Megan Windle. Tickets are $15 for the show, which begins at 8 p.m.

 Andrew Grose is providing the laughs at Good Times this weekend at 8 p.m. each night.

 Kick off the week by getting on stage as the Owl Acoustic Lounge’s weekly open mic is tonight, Oct. 4.

“ Rock Opera Musical Concert with a Broadway ” feel “ Relive the Music:  50s and 60s is running one night only, Oct. 5 at the Yates  Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $62.

If you missed Fawns opening for the Pack AD last week, they open for Vancouver alternative rock band Strange Breed at the Slice, Wednesda , Oct. 5.

And if you missed a magnificent blues show from Chicago via Australia bluesman Michael Charles, in May, he returns to the Slice on Thursday, Oct. 6. Nobody was there last time, but he still tore the roof off the stage with a marathon session of all kinds of blues, so don’t miss it this time. At least there are no Stanley Cup playoffs or sold out Corb Lund shows competing with him this time.

 But, competing with Michael Charles this week, is accordion and trumpet wielding roots rocker Jack Garton and Maddie Storvold at the Owl Acoustic Lounge. There is no cover for that show.

 If you need another dose of the blues, Eric Braun hits Honkers Pub’s stage on Friday for his own show. The Trippy Hippys Hosts Honkers pub’s Saturday afternoon open mic.

 Another can’t miss show is Calgary rockabilly band Peter on the Wolves, who rock Casino Lethbridge, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8.

 Knock the dust off those cowboy boots as Boots and The Hoots return to The Owl Acoustic Lounge,  Friday, oct. 7 at 9 p.m. Admission is by donation.

If you missed them this summer, Jon Martin and the lovers return to The Owl Acoustic Lounge on Saturday in support of their new album  “ This Could be Our Year.”  Calgary indie rock band I Am The Mountain are also on the bill.

 And The John and Scott band return to the Slice stage for Saturday, Oct. 8.
