Mariel Buckley’s spectacular sophomore full-length album, Driving In The Dark, delivers on the promise of her previous album, Motorhome (and then some), as she plants her flag firmly as a songwriter who’s here for the long haul.
Driving In The Dark’s ten songs—led by the singles “Rose Coloured Frames” and “One Time Asking”—paint poetically plainspoken highs and lows, long nights and hard days, all filtered through Mariel’s wry, no-bullshit perspective, and enhanced by the impressive team she assembled for the recording sessions, led by producer Leeroy Stagger at his Rebeltone Ranch studio in Lethbridge, Alberta.
From the moment the Calgary native arrived on the scene with her self-titled EP in 2012 Mariel quickly earned the respect of the Alberta roots music community, leading to performances in support of her idol k.d. lang, and entertaining audiences at the province’s major festivals.
Having now made a powerful statement with Driving In The Dark, Mariel proves she is an artist truly coming into her own and ready to take on the world. She could have chosen to chase a slicker, more polished sound built for radio and arenas, but instead, she doubled down on the grit and the truth in her music. It’s honesty that brought her to this point, and honesty that will continue to carry her into the future.

Nuela Charles is an alternative/soul singer-songwriter known for her soulful vocals and captivating stage presence. Kicking off 2018 with a JUNO Award Nomination for her self-released sophomore album “The Grand Hustle,” she is now gearing up to release her brand new EP thisOctober.

The first single “Do It Right,” (March 2018) co- written and produced by Grammy nominated Rob Kleiner (Andra Day,Sia, Ceelo Green), made a splash in Germany, as it entered the German Airplay Charts (Hochschulsender) Top 100 in May and landed two synch placements on the US National Sports Channel ESPN, adding to the 13 synchs she’s acquired over the last couple of years. It also received support from CBC Music Radio, keeping steady ground in the Top 20 charts for 7 weeks.
With a nod from FADER, a placement on the hit show “Jane the Virgin” and some comfortable real estate on the Canadian CBC Radio 2 charts, Charles has released more of her fiery brand of cinematic soul, on her "Distant Danger" EP (Oct. 2018) and if her single “Troublemaker” is any indication, it’ll be your next favourite “no-bark-all-bite” anthem that’s one of the year’s

Sam Roberts Band is a rock band based out of Montreal, Canada.

Canadian singer/songwriter Sam Roberts released his debut in 2002, following a popular independent demo recording he had made in Montreal. Before that point, he had been a violin player who eventually moved on to guitar and started a rock band with his friends. The Inhuman Condition was released and became the best-selling independent EP in Canadian history. In 2003 he released his first full-length album, We Were Born in a Flame. The Certified Double-Platinum selling album was a huge hit in Canada and won the Juno Award for Album of the Year, Rock Album of the Year, and Artist of the Year. He continued to release hit albums for the remainder of the decade: Platinum-certified Chemical City in 2006 and Gold-certified Love at the End of the World in 2008. Each album also won the Juno for Rock Album of the Year.

For his 2011 release, Collider, Roberts changed from using his name to using Sam Roberts Band. In 2014, Lo-Fantasy was released to great acclaim. Lead single We’re All In This Together reached the top of both Canadian rock radio charts, followed by Top 10 hits Human Heat and Shapeshifters. In 2016, TerraForm was released, the band’s 6th studio album. Lead Single “If You Want It” reached #2 at both rock radio charts. The album was nominated for the Rock Album Of the Year at the 2017 Juno Awards. Most recently Roberts released We Were Born In A Flame 2018 Deluxe Edition, which included previously unreleased tracks on three LPs.

Sam Roberts Band continue to deliver their legacy of hit singles to take over the airwaves. Their fiery spirit have made their live shows legendary, earning them spots performing everywhere from Letterman and Conan to Bonnaroo, ACL, Lollapalooza and Bumbershoot, and alongside heroes like the Rolling Stones and AC/DC.
