Your man in Japan (and Canada when he can).

Andrew Scott is an energetic and captivating singer/songwriter. His musicianship is top notch and his performances are always full of funk, humour, strange instruments, pterodactyl squawks, grunts, grooves, storytelling and good ol'fashioned zinger wit.

Born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta. In 2002 Andrew moved to Lethbridge Alberta to study Music and Education at the University of Lethbridge. During this time he ended up being the energetic frontman for a very popular local group called The Turncoats ( www.myspace.com/turncoatslethbridge ). This group recorded two discs (Bloodrunnin, Teeth Like A Chainsaw) and played at venues and festivals all over Western Canada including The South Country Fair, The Spectrum Festival, the Lethbridge Folk Club, the Kispiox Valley Music Festival, the Peace Starts at Home Festival, the Ironwood Stage and Grill, The Tongue and Groove, Better Than Freds, Broken City, and The Slice Bar and Grill.

In 2007 he graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a B.Ed/B.Mus and headed off to Japan where he is currently working with his wife Julie Sauve Scott as an English/Culture teacher in Toyohashi, Aichi with the JET Programme. He has continued an active performance schedule there and in May or 2009 released a new disc entitled '13 Birds of Prey', an international project recorded in both Canadian and Japanese studios and featuring artists from Canada, Japan, Ireland and the United States.

In May 2010 Andrew began working with Julie Sauve Scott and Takuro Otani on an all new album tentatively titled, "My Time In The Empire". This album will be released online and in stores in early 2011.

In May 2010 Andrew's song, "I'm Gonna Bust Your Head In" was selected for the top ten in Japanzine's 2010 Gaijin Sounds Song Contest.

In 2006 Andrew won Best Performance at the Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting Contest with his song 'Artillery'.

In 2001 Andrew's song 'She Don't Want My Money' won first place in the Grande Prairie 97.7 Sun FM songwriting contest.

the Necessities www.myspace.com/thenecessities

Written in the style of City Confedential: It was a not unlike any other day in the windy confines of a landlocked slice of heaven. Peaceful and majestic geese flew overhead while ice cream cones dripped in the prairie chinook winds. This is a place where the old come to die, and the young come to start anew. This is Lethbridge, Alberta; and it is the birthplace of the Necessities. Just like the need for food, clothing and shelter, the need for music is in all of us. We are here for your enjoyment, so cram it with walnuts ugly.
