Description

Vancouver based quintet Incura formed in the winter of 2004 in Southern Alberta and has since garnered serious attention from the press and audiences alike. The word "genre" thrown around to categorize bands is rarely applied to Incura, as they cross between numerous styles and take influence from every musical moment they hear.
Incura has never been subject to the confines of any single musical style or genre and their live performances are always met with critical acclaim.

Eyes of Isis ( Vocals/ Guitar- Jordan Davidson,Lead Guitar/ Back Up Vocals- Chase Rennie/bassist Taylor Sander and drummer/back up vocalist Josh Fabbi) is a progressive rock band with a variety of original music each with its own taste and style.

Hollow Embrace (http://www.hollowembrace.com) is Hollow Embrace initially stemmed in 2001 while guitarist, Evan Jones, was in a band and asked Curtis Litchfield to play bass for one song during a gig. The show was a success and sparked a friendship between the two. Evan’s band soon dissolved after this, creating the opportunity for Curtis and Evan to pursue other musical ideas together, however Curtis had already made plans to move to Toronto to begin a project with friends there. In the meantime Evan played with a variety of different bands to try to find his place.

After some time in Toronto with no success Curtis decided to come home to Alberta and began playing with long time friend and church-choir singing closet rocker Sterling Low. Though this amounted to little more than a songwriting duo that worked in the basement of their Calgary condo.

Around summer 2006 Curtis contacted Evan to see if he was interested in jamming and playing a few shows before personal business took Curtis to Halifax that fall. Evan jumped at the chance as his current Metal Band was taking a break for the summer. The trio enlisted the help of Con Cole and Devin Shapcott from local Garage band "Once Never Known" to play Drums and Bass.

After playing a few shows that summer under the name "Volition" they disbanded at the end of August that year, and in the interim Sterling, Evan and Curtis all managed to get married and met up again during the Winter of 2007.

Curtis met Drummer David LeBel while working with local songstress and performer Kelliane where they were playing together for the Lethbridge crowds. The bandmates were impressed with Davids dedication and style and asked him to join, which he agreed to.

By early spring the new foursome had decided to dedicate themselves to the band and make it a project that they would carry through on, which sparked a search for somebody to play the bass.

In early April tragedy struck when Sterling passed away due to complications with diabetes, leaving the band with an uncertain fate while they took time to contemplate the future and to find a way to proceed which would still honour their lost friend.

Cellist Jaron Hearty was a good friend of Curtis and was introduced to David and Evan with the plan of playing the bass guitar, which he would have to learn how to play drawing from his experience with the cello. When Jaron went out and began practicing on his own and buying gear without even being formally invited into the band, the choice became certain, and Jaron officially became a member who's playing progressed rapidly. He had already demonstrated his skills and unique style in playing the instrument which was so foreign to him only a few short months before.

It wasn’t until the end of that year that they began their search for a new vocalist. After auditioning several local singers the band decided to ask an old friend to come and try out.

Chris Evanson met Jaron and Curtis in 2005 while she was the lead singer for Calgary band "Less Accountable". With a love for hard rock and a big fan of Robert Plant and Maynard James Keenan she seemed a suitable candidate, and after several weeks of debate and jamming, Chris was chosen to add her talents to the mix and was invited to join in December 2008. “Chris basically shatters the stereotype that women can’t sing heavy rock” is how one member of Hollow Embrace described her.

With the lineup complete the band chose to name themselves "Hollow Embrace". Hollow Embrace has spent the past few months writing and recording. Their debut show was a battle of the bands hosted by Amp-All Studios from which they took home first place.

The idea behind the music of Hollow Embrace is a large Venn Diagram. All members have different tastes and ideas which seem to meet in the middle, despite their differences, and create a collage of sounds and textures that make them their own original identity. Any idea is a valid one.

This band is eager to play live music, connect with other people who have the same passion as they do and make the music that they love to hear.
