This is the third week for bands to compete for an opening slot for Sweet at Average Joes in August.
Every Thursday
night Joe’s Garage holds a Live Jam session for aspiring artists to show
their stuff. To date, the jam sessions have been “just for fun”, but
now performers can be part of an exciting contest to “OPEN FOR THE
BANDS”. That’s right, this summer Average Joe’s/ Joe’s Garage will be
bringing in three big time, big name bands Dr. Hook, Nazareth and Sweet.
Each of these bands will need an opening act, and that act could be
you. Here is how it will work:
The contest will run every
Thursday night in Joe’s Garage during the Live Jam session. It is open
to all genres of music, bands or solo acts, which combine both
instrumentals and singing. (Note: profanity is not allowed). Each night,
a winner will be announced, and will then have an opportunity to return
in June for a playoff.
Each Thursday night during May the 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th,
contestants will be vying for a spot in a playoff on June 16th. The
winner of the playoff will then open for the Sweet concert on Aug. 11 with a 30 minute set.
The
3 OPENING ACT WINNERS, will also receive 15 free tickets to their show,
an opportunity to Record A Single at LA Studio Productions, a 4’ x 8’
custom banner for their band from Budweiser, and $500 dollars in Average
Joe’s gift certificates.
The place is an arcade/nightclub— 420 - 6 Street South.
