The stage in Joe’s Garage has seen many diverse acts in recent months,
ranging from the classic rock of Nazareth, tribute acts like Neil
Diamond and Johnny Cash, country singers like Julian Austin and Shane
Chisholm, the comedy of Yuk Yuk’s, and of course the weekly Dueling
Pianos show. Now, it is time for something different, the sounds of
Indie/Rock.
On Monday, September 19th, three Indie/Rock groups will entertain.
Wildlife, are a fun group who present light hearted Indie ballads.
There 2010 album, Stand In The Water has been well received. They will
be followed by the Young Rivals, who hail from Ontario. They have
toured with The Sadies and The Born Ruffians. The Young Rivals record
under the Sonic Unyon label. The evening’s headliners are Hollerado.
The Hollerado’s are another Ontario Indie group. In 2011, they were
nominated for a Juno as best new group in Canada. Their debut album is
Record In A Bag, and they have toured extensively in North America as
well as in China and Brazil.
The show is on Sept. 19,
and it starts at 9:30 P.M. Tickets are $15.00, and can be purchased in
advance at Average Joe’s Sports Bar, 420-6th street, south, or at Long
& McQuade, 328-8h street, south.
Hollerado
Hollerado grew up on the same street in a small town in Ontario. There is one bar in the town and on Friday nights the jukebox plays Roy Orbison, and John Prine. One day, while riding the bus, a man in an exquisitely tailored suit said to them “it is not nearly as fun to reminisce about the times you didn’t spend your life savings on four one-way tickets to Japan.” With that in mind they got jobs doing construction. When they were tearing down the old walls they listened to The Who. When they built new walls they talked about time travel. Soon they bought an old van and started a moving company (Haulerado). The van had a tape player and they listened exclusively to the Traveling Wilburys. They hope you have an awesome holiday season.
Young Rival http://www.youngrival.com or http://www.myspace.com/youngrival are A Hamilton based rock band.
Wildlife http://www.wildlifemusic.ca
A fixture in the Toronto concert scene, Wildlife is known for their great sound and amazing high-energy shows. From the second they take the stage in their black dress shirt and blue armband uniform, to the very last note, all five guys give it everything they’ve got. That energy spreads out into the crowd as the audience dances, jumps and sings along at the top of their lungs, fuelled by the intensity flowing off the stage. With a killer combination of great songs and irresistible stage presence, there’s no doubt that this band walks away with new fans-for-life after every set.
The guys will be heading back to the states in August and September as part of the Daytrotter Barnstormer 5 Tour – a travelling multi-band tour, playing in barns across the eastern U.S. They will share the stage with White Rabbits, Doug Paisley, Princeton, Hacienda, Hundred Visions, Madi Diaz, Keegan DeWitt, and Nona Marie & The Choir.
Wildlife’s debut album Strike Hard, Young Diamond was released late last year on Easy Tiger/Wax Records, and is available now on iTunes. The album features the band’s undeniably catchy sound that blends power-pop, rock, and soul. The first single will be unleashed to rock radio mid-August with a video to follow shortly after.
Don’t miss your chance to check out Wildlife as they migrate across North America!
The place is an arcade/nightclub— 420 - 6 Street South.
