What if They Might Be Giants grew up listening to Nomeansno and Fugazi?
What if comedian Andy Kaufman was the wizard behind The New Pornographer's curtain?
What if Cardiacs and At The Drive-In overhauled Jimmy Eat World's back catalogue?

You might get beekeeper.

beekeeper is an indie post-pop power trio from Vancouver consisting of comedian Devon Lougheed, protein synthesist Luke Cyca, and gin aficionado Terri Upton. Our music blends together infectious hooks, stunning male/female harmonies, and unsettling math-rock dissonance. beekeeper fuses the more experimental elements of the Southern Ontario independent scene with an earnestness that is uniquely West Coast. Our music and live shows are infused with good-natured twists, pranks, and hoaxes that keep listeners guessing.

BE KEPT is our debut record. The Georgia Straight called it "a rambunctious debut packed with clever math-rock rhythms, cutesy boy-girl vocals, and off-the-cuff flourishes, [that] deserves a sack full of gold stars.” It tells the dramatic story of the life (and eventual death) of a lovelorn small-town ex-pat hellbent on revenge. (Oh yeah, it also rocks pretty hard too). The album has charted on campus radio stations across Canada, and lead single "Sudden Cuckoo" is in high rotation on CBC Radio3.

Our live show is quirky, high-energy, and musically satisfying. Influenced heavily by Lougheed’s stand-up comedy experience, “beekeeper live” means fun, laughter, and dancing; it is not rare for our sets to end with the entire audience grooving with us on stage. "My hands stung from clapping [and] my cheeks hurt from laughing" (UmMusic blog).

2011 witnessed successful tours of Alberta and Ontario, as well as BC shows shared with powerhouses such as Menomena, Nomeansno, SSRIs, Mezamazing, Sandman Viper Command, Man Your Horse, The Heartbroken, and The Darcys. 2012? THE WORLD.

No Don’t Stop: A band name; a motto; an intense mix of electric and acoustic, melodic and spastic, introspective and outlandish. With lyrical hooks and captivating rhythms using anything from chains, animal bones, milk cans, and suitcases; at bowling alleys or in bathrooms, these indie rockers are redefining versatility.

No Don't Stop's debut album is a stylish example of a do-it-yourself project gone right. Self produced, recorded, mixed, hand-stamped, and hand packaged; Lipsync Karaoke reveals a creative band that is hard working and determined to succeed. This group will stop at nothing to get where they’re going.

Lipsync Karaoke plays through like a classic mix tape as you drive down the winding roads of Vancouver Island. To set the scene and to kick off the album is "Smooth Ride to D-Town” with its beatnik road trip swagger. Other tracks in the mix include a Pixies-esque "I Don't Mind", the gospel tinged "Ballad of the Black Keys", a Neil Young-ian "Grizzly Coast", the junk percussion anthem of "Buzzard Banjo", and the tail feather shaking "Deader Than Heaven".

2011 has been a busy year beginning with the production and recording of their second LP - which will be released in Spring 2012 with a cross Canada tour to follow - and culminating with their second Western Canadian tour in October.

No Don’t Stop have also organized several unique live performances in their home town of Duncan, BC including the first ever Rock ‘n’ Bowl at the local lanes, and a sold-out circus themed Cabaret. In addition they’ve played a multimedia art and music exhibit, a showcase theatre, backyard bbqs, coffee houses, pubs, toured Western Canada, and rocked the stage at the Cowichan Summer Festival, the Spot Prawn Festival, GongFest and Rifflandia.
