When one story ends, another begins....... such has been the journey of The Golers... born in '99 out of the completion of musical journeys in other bands.. The founding members bonded on a common ground of off-beat humor and a drive to create old school aggressive metal, the likes of which have not been heard since the heydays of the Bay area scene.
Many of the bands of that era are cited as influences by the band, if not in the song writing, then in the band's high energy shows..
Upon the release of their debut disk, South Mountain Style, they immediately started to define what it means to be a Goler. With songs like the title track, it's not hard to see what kind of humor these guys have..... there is a definite duality to them.... songs
like French Kiss the Dairy Cow, having lyrics that are funny, driven by songs that can only be described as ripping your face off, give a perfect combination of getting aggressive in a mosh pit while smiling and laughing... truly the bonding experience so many hard core fans have come to expect from The Golers....
With the following disks, Second Generation and Backwoods Messages, the band has continued with the humorous twisted look at some of the most taboo of topics, while putting the lyrics to progressively more musical and catchy songs, without losing the edginess of what created the band to begin with..... from progressive metal tracks like "Attraction Deforms Involvement", to an almost punk simplicity like the track "Essential Burst".....the 3 disks to date cover almost every sonic spectrum found
in modern metal.....
As the library grows... so does the fan base.... enough so that bands of the Likes as The Accused, Dayglo Abortions and Toxic Holocaust have taken these guys on the road as far as Europe and across the United
States..... this just adding to the long list of bands they have opened for, including Kreator, Destruction, Agent Orange, Strapping Young Lad and Dr. Know...The Golers have fit well on the bill no matter who is headlining.... their energy is just that infectious......
With work on the 4th disk well under way, more fans and shows are sure to follow.. the only question that really remains is........
How long will it be before you become a fan of the Golers?
