  • Since his debut on the song I’m the man from the 1992 Gangstarr Daily Operation album. Jeru the Damaja AKA D. Original Dirty rotten scoundrel has been recording and rocking stages all over the world proving you can’t stop the prophet. Not only has Jeru given us classics like Come Clean, The Sun rises in the East, Wrath of the math and underground hits like 99.9%, Jeru has been very busy over the years collaborating with artist all over the world. Grammy nominated group Groove Armada, DJ Honda from Japan and international DJ sensation Cut killer are just a few of the groups that Jeru has worked with in his nearly 20 year career in the music industry. Jeru’s voice was even sampled by four-time Grammy award winning group The Chemical Brothers on a song entitled Rize up.

In 2013 The Damaja (Born Kendrick Jeru Davis) is set to release an EP entitled The Hammer, with production from the likes of Large Professor, Pf Cuttin and the Beatnuts just to name a few. The Hammer promises to be an auditory treat for all lovers of that golden era boom bap. This EP is truly Classic hip-hop for the future, blending fresh new sounds with time-tested techniques and the lyrical wizardry that Jeru is known for. The Hammer embodies the true spirit of hip hop as a creative platform and cultural movement which seems to be a concept far removed from in the world of rap today. With tittles like Solar flares, Point Blank and Raw you can expect sonic fireworks and masterful lyrical artistry. So for all you seekers of funky unrelenting concept based hip-hop with a message, rejoice… and all you purveyors of the whack beware Jeru The Damaja is about to put down The Hammer!!
