Vere's
music is not all the way folk, downright country or straight-up blues —
it’s a tasty mix of all the above, and Vere pulls it off with a set
list that’ll hold any room, making the audience smile all the while.
Born in Moncton New Brunswick, raised on the prairies of Saskatchewan
and Alberta, Vere considers herself a songwriter. Vere not only has a
strong focus on songwriting, but also an enormous energy on stage.
Her
inspiration draws from a myriad of life experiences and musical
stories. If there is one thing that Toni Vere wants to say to say about
her music and advise she gives to her fans it's this: "We all have the
right to be who we are. I have struggled with trying to be who people
thought I should be for the lions share of my life so here I am, and
more importantly, would you like fries with that?" www.ToniVere.com
"Vere
is a little bit country and a little bit rock and a little bit folk and
she handles it all like she is born to it. Her songwriting is
understated and more effective for it, her voice one with each song and
her attitude obvious. She loves what she does here." - Frank O. Gutch Jr
"Vere
has gone through some major life changes over the past decade or so,
and you cannot understand the present and future, without also analyzing
the past. Just to Be is a fine ideal........we are made to embrace
what we were, are, and hope to become, and this 11-song release finds
Vere appreciating the here and now as best she can. There are moments
when Vere comes off somewhat like a female version of John Denver. It’s
not hard to imagine that Rocky Mountain man, for instance, singing the
praises of nature, as happens during “My Backyard”, or considering a
family heirloom, as Vere does with “Grandma’s Old Guitar”. Folk is
probably the most encapsulating description of what Vere creates,
although there’s a whole lot of country thrown into this mix." - Dan
MacIntosh
Currently, she is in the middle of recording her 4th
record. The CD “Just To Be” - Feb 2010, Toni's third record is
available now. A re-mastered 20th anniversary edition of her first album
with 1993's "Midnight Rider" was released in September 2013.
