Vancouver Island based folk/ rock musician Wil, aka William Kimbrough, is pleased with his brand new fourth CD, Wil returns to Lethbridge, with C. R Avery, Nov. 15. Photo by Richard Ameryparticularly how different it is.

Wil and C.R. Avery are about to embark on a co-headlining tour which brings them to the Geomatic Attic, Nov. 15.

“ Each of us have played certain places where we have fans, so we’ll probably flip a coin to see who plays first,” said Wil on a post Hallowe’en call from Elm Street in Qualicum Beach.

He has never met Avery before, so is looking forward to sharing a stage with him.
“I’ve heard he’s another great guy, but I’ve got no idea what to expect,” he said.

Wil is touring with drummer Kevin Houghton as drummer/ producer Jason Cook who plays on Wil’s fourth CD “Heart of Mine,” is unable to make the tour.
The new CD is the first one Wil did himself.

“So I’ve been able to show another side of myself,” he said.

While it is a lot more rock than his previous efforts, he pointed out  there are a lot of really soft songs as well.
“It’s a record of single songs. We were able to do what we wanted with them. We sat down and listened to them and let the song be what it was. We weren’t  telling it what to be,” he continued.

“We don’t have only one style of  song,” he continued.

He had been playing some of the songs live for a couple years before recording them.

“We’ve really been developing these songs. That’s how I complete them by playing them live,” he said.
“Early response to the CD has been really great,” he said.

Wil and C. R Avery play the Geomatic Attic, Nov. 15. Tickets cost  $27.50. The show begins at 8 p.m.
