Cornucopia of live music this week

There’s no excuse to stay home this week, with a cornucopia of live entertainment happening.
 If you want to dance, Edmonton dance/electronica collective Shout Out Out Out Out  plays what is sure to be an energetic and fun filled show at the Stone, Nov. 11.

They are an all rhythm section featuring four bassists and two drum sets plus two DJs and a variBrock Zeman plays the Lethbridge Folk Club Wolf’s Den, Nov. 12. Photo by Richard Ameryety of keyboards. Tickets cost $15 in advance. The show begins at 9 p.m.

 The Lethbridge Folk club is also busy this week with their open mic on Friday at the Wolf’s Den. But their big show of the week features Brock Zeman, who has shared stages with Fred Eaglesmith, Steve Earle, Lynn MIles, Corb Lund and Toby Keith.


 He is one of the Ottawa Valley’s  well-established and hardest working musicians. Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for non members. The show begins at 8 p.m.

A trimmed back and more rocking Blackberry Wood is coming back  to provide some gypsy flavoured fun at the Slice, Nov. 10.
 They always put on a high energy and quirky show full of sound effects, horns and a a whole lot of fun.

Peter Katz, a well respected Toronto singer songwriter returns to the Slice, Nov. 9.

He has recently released a CD/ live DVD of the opening show for his latest CD,  “First Of the Last To Know.”  But he will be playing a lot of new material as he has almost completed  a brand new CD.
There is a $10 cover for the show, which begins at 9:30 p.m. Amanda Michelle Forsyth is also performing.

The Slice has several excellent shows, as usual.  if you want to dance, Hippodrome hits the stage on Saturday, Nov. 12. Admission is $10.
 And for something a little more country and a little more rock, Winnipeg singer/ songwriter Scott Nolan, who played a house concert here this week, returns to the Slice on Sunday, Nov. 13. There is a $10 cover.
 And for you rock and roll people, the Stellar Radio Choir are back in town to rock the Slice on Monday., Nov. 14.

 If you like Iron Maiden, A handful of Catholic Central grads will be coming back to Lethbridge to see old friends, family and play some Iron Maiden at the Sound Garden in their Maiden tribute  band Edward the Great.
 Singer John Sinclair  along with brother Gabe Sinclair on drums, guitarists Tom Jarvie and Bruce Maclean plus bassist Greg Kristianso decided to form their Iron Maiden tribute “Edward The Great,” after playing around with some covers of the ’80s metal they grew up on.


They promise note perfect renditions of a variety of Iron Maiden classics.  While Sound Garden is usually an over 21 club, that is being waived for the night so younger  (18 and up) metal fans can get in for the show.
 Lethbridge band Rawk Fist opens the show. Admission is five dollars in advance, $10 at the door.


The Owl features a week of shows beginning Wednesday, Nov 9 with  the Details and Hunger Hush performing at about 9 p.m.
 For something a little more laid back, Edmonton based singer-songwriter Alex Vissia is looking forward to her first solo tour, which comes to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Nov. 12. She will be playing  with her trio and will be playing music from her debut CD.

There is no cover for the show. She will be sharing the bill with the Magnetic North.
 The Owl has several late announced shows.


Another Edmontonian Scott Cook returns to Lethbridge to play the Owl on Thursday, Nov. 10. Matt Robinson is also on the bill.
Bring Fire takes the Owl stage on Friday, Nov. 11. And they are bringing back their Sunday  night plugged in open mic at about 7 p.m. on Sunday.


 And last, but , not least, Wil is back in Lethbridge with C.R.  Avery to play the Geomatic Attic next Tuesday. Admission is $27.50. The show begins at 8 p.m.


And if you haven’t seen Lethbridge Musical Theatre’s production of Oliver, a musical version of Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist,” it continues it’s run at the Yates Theatre throughout the week.
