Toronto pop/ folk songwriter Liam Titcomb has a busy few months ahead of him.
He spent the last five years since eleasing his last CD writing songs for his third CD “Cicada.”

Liam Titcomb plays the Lethbridge, Aug. 27. Photo submittedHe is touring across Canada on his own, which will bring him to the Slice in Lethbridge, Aug. 27.

“It’s been five years since my last CD. I spent most of the past five years writing songs in Nashville and I went to London a couple of times,” Titcomb explained.

He made several trips to Nashville, London, England and back home to Toronto before he came up with the songs for the new project.

One of the demos of one of the songs written inLondon, “Landslide” caught the ear of Nettwerk Records CEO Terry McBride who signed him helped him put “Cicada” out.

“ I like to have 20 good songs and 25 great songs for an album. On this song I had 30 great songs, so I really raised the bar for myself,” he said.

He never expected “Landslide ” to take off.

“It took on a life of its own,” he said.

“Games” is an upbeat highlight off the CD. It was written with two co-writers linke many of the songs on the CD which he wrote in london.
“I rarely do three way co-writes. I just don’t feel comfortable. But with Grant and  Jerry, it’s like  you’re just hanging out with friends,” he said.
He is touring with guitarist and long time friend Saam Hashemi.

They will be touring on their own, then Titcomb will be opening for Colin James  in  the East at the beginning of  October then he will tour on his own for a couple of weeks before rejoining the Colin James tour on the west coast at the beginning of November.

“He’s a great guy and he attracts a high calibre of music fans. They’re great.  If you sound genuine and play well, they will buy a CD,” he said.
He hasn’t been to Lethbridge for several years, so he will be playing a variety of music.

“I’ll be playing most of the songs from the new CD, some older songs from the first record and some songs I’ve been playing for years, but have never made it onto a CD,” he said.

“Cicada” is the first of his CDs  to be released overseas, so he is looking forward to touring the United Kingdom next year.
Liam Titcomb plays at approximately 9:30 p.m., Aug. 27 at the Slice. There is a five dollar cover.
