The play will run May 6-8   at  the Moose Hall.

Auditions are also at the Moose Hall, Jan. 14-16 from 6-9 p.m. each night.

The cast includes an older lady, the widower Betty in her 60s who owns a fishing lodge in Georgia, a  younger woman who will play the debutant Catherine, her “slow witted” brother Ellard and his friend “Froggy” La Seuer, a British explosives effort, his pathologically shy friend Charlie, who is the foreigner who Froggy tells everyone is a foreigner who speaks no English, a sinister two-faced minister David who is engaged to Catherine, and his redneck associate, Owen a superstitious racist who doesn’t like foreigners.

While the primary plot surrounds Catherine and Ellard’s quest for an inheritance, there are numerous subplots surrounding the Inn and the characters.
Director Karolyn Harker noted she produced the play  20 years ago and is excited about bringing it to Lethbridge.

“It’s a really fun play,” she said.
“ I love Larry Shue’s plays,” Harker continued.

“There is a sweetness about the play. It is a comedy,” she said adding it does explore some darker themes. It won two Obie Awards and two Outer Critic’s Circle Awards as best New American play and Best off-Broadway production.
Rehearsals will begin soon after the cast has been chosen near the end of January.
Auditions are 6-8 p.m. at the Moose Hall, Jan. 14-16.
