Music for the Moose and MS this week

This week there are several shows dedicated to helping out good causes.
Popular Lethbridge ’80s band Sheena and the Bandshees featuring former members of Change of Heart (Sheena Lawson vocals/guitar; Dan Vere guitar/vocals; Roy Barts bass/vocals; Rawn Wolfe drums) are getting back together to help raise money for the Moose Lodge, April 6, which is in danger of closing. The other big fundraiser takes place on Sunday April  7 at The Mocha Cabana. Several local musicians will be playing to raise money to fight MS. Kevan Tolley, Adam Tolley, Bud Haycock, Dale Ketcheson, Barb Marchuk, Murray Nelson, James Oldenburg and Caroline Freeman will all be playing from 5-9 p.m, April 7. Tickets are $10 at the door.


This is also your week if you like rap music. Unfortunately you will have to make a tough choice April 5 as two big rap shows will be competing against each other.
Enfield, Nova Scotia rapper Classified along with Halifax rappers Kayo and Quake will be performing at Studio 54, April 5 at  9 p.m. Tickets are $25.


Pulse has a big rap show that same night featuring Queens, New York rapper Waka Flocka Flame and local rappers  F-Bomb, Sin Sane,Nikko, Urban Voyce and Heavy Knowledge, Spartans, Double  AAs. He is a Southern hip hop artist best known for his singles "O Let's Do It", "Hard in da Paint" and "No Hands", along with his debut album, Flockaveli. His second album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family, was released on June 12, 2012.
Tickets are $39.99.


There is also a big southern Alberta metal show this week at the Eagles Hall featuring local deathgrind band the Avulsion, Medicine Hat thrash metal band Morbidly Depraved, Calgary based technical  brutal death metal band Netheriel, Calgary thrash metal band Arsenal, Lethbridge death metal band Pandemic Being and Medicine Hat thrash metal band Evolux. The show is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. with the bands beginning at 8 p.m. There is a $10 cover.


 For something more folk rock related, Edmonton based folk/ roots band 100 Mile House return to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, April 5, while former Lethbridge based country/ folk musician Andrew Scott returns to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, April 6. There is no cover for either of those shows. Elise Epp plays the L.A. Beat open jam at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, April 3 as well.

And if you like classic rock, Average Joes brings in Led Zeppelin tribute band the Led Zeppelin show, April 6 as well. The show begins at 9 :30p.m. There is a  $10 cover.


If you like to swing, Calgary based gypsy  jazz/ swing band the Bow Djangos will be playing the Lethbridge Folk Club Wolf’s Den, April 6.
 The Junkman’s Choir will be opening the show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for members or $25 for non members, which includes a Folk Club membership.


 The big indie rock show of the week is April 9 with the Zolas and the Dudes who play Bo Diddly’s, April 9. Vancouver based indie rock duo the Zolas promise a more experimental set of keyboard powered rock, which the Dudes, from Calgary will simply rock.
 Tickets for the April 9 show at Bo Diddly’s cost $20. The show is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.
 While the Slice usually has an open mic on Tuesdays, tonight, April 2,  they are bringing in Toronto rock band July Talk with special guests.

Also for indie rock people, several bands are partying with University of Lethbridge student newspaper  The Meliorist as well as  Univeristy of Lethbridge literary magazine Whetsone. Local rock band the New Weather Machine will be playing with indie rock band the Utilities as well as  the Alarics, a new indie rock band.
