Vancouver based musician Paul Pigat is known for playing rockabilly music, but he also plays  blues with Jim Byrnes and gospel with the Sojourners. He has to leave the Fair right after his set to catch a flight to Yellowknife to join the Sojourners for a gig.

“I’d love to stick around for the Fair, but I just can’t,” said Paul Pigat, guitarist and frontman of Cousin Harley.

But when he plays his fourth or fifth South Country fair at midnight, July 18, he will putting on the rockabilly hat with long standing band mates —  stand up bassist  Keith Picot and drummer Jesse Cahill, who he has been playing with for nine years.

“I don’t even make up a set list any more, I just start playing and they know exactly what to do,”he said.

“ It takes a lot of time to get that in tune with guys, but I’m blessed to play with the best in the country for this type of music,” he said.

“ I don’t even like to call what we do rockabilly, because people think of is all rickety dickety. This is more rock and roll music,” he said.

“ I love playing rockabilly. That's my passion for sure,” he said.

“ I also play bebop music, but nobody wants to pay me to play bebop music,” he said.

“ There will be a lot of guitar based music. I may even pack my steel guitar. I was playing it for quite a while but quit because I got tired of arguing at the airport about it. But I’m getting better at arguing with the airport,” he said.
