After a crazy St. Patrick’s Day week, things slow down a lot this week.

A lot of this week’s live music is local.Outrun the arrow play Casino Lethbridge, March 24. Photo bY Richard Amery
One of the highlights is the wind up show for CKXU’s annual FUNDrive at the Slice.

All week long, the local University of Lethbridge based community radio station has been hosting events and taking pledges to reach their $30,000 goal. The fun culminates at the Slice, March 24 with several local bands playing “banned” songs or songs that have been banned. Admission is $10 advance, $15 at the door.

It is  great weekend for comedy as well.

Ventriloquist Jeff Dunham returns to the Enmax Centre, March 24 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $54 and $70.

The next night, Mike “Pickle” Dambra returns to Average Joes. The show features Adam Blank, local comedian Jeff Gundarson and host Dan Hymus. The show begins at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $15.
There is an excellent mid week blues show on Thursday, March 23 as Kelowna blues rock trio Devon Coyote return to the Owl Acoustic Lounge.

Attainable  Records features Southern Alberta alternative rock with Wint, Medicine Hat band Swim and Edmonton art rock band Fitness. The show begins at 9 p.m. There is a $10 cover.

There is a heap of local music happening on March 24. Hard rock band Outrun the Arrow play a Casino Lethbridge, March 24. Another hard rocking option is local band Unzipped, who play Coyote Joes, March 24. Jazz band the Herb Hicks Quartet return to the Mocha Canada and up the road, local folk/ rock band the Gabriel Thaine Trio play the Owl Acoustic Lounge.

There are a few excellent shows on March 25 as well. Country band Blacksmith return to the Owl Acoustic Lounge. And classic rock band Suite 33 play Casino Lethbridge, March 25 as well.
