Wednesday shows are always tough to get to even with the new time for my punk show on CKXU Disco Sucks punkin’ Old School, which now runs from 10 to midnigMatt Patershuk returned to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Nov. 20. Photo by Richard Ameryht on Wednesdays. But I was hoping to catch at least a few songs  from Matt Patershuk and his hot band at the Owl acoustic lounge, Nov. 20.

It was supposed to start early, but they were waiting for more people, who never showed up.   So it was just a lucky handful of people who caught an exceptional show from Grande Prairie areas country/ folk musician Matt Patershuk.

he looked like he was going to play his new CD “If Wishes Were Horses,” in order, so that meant he started his set played my favourite song from the album “ The Blues Don’t Bother Me,” first.

It was as bluesy as the name reflects, but he went more traditional country for  his tribute to Ernest Tubbs “ Ernest Tubbs Had Fuzzy Slippers,” which he prefaced by saying it was inspired by a podcast about The famous country musician.

Patershuk sang in a good vibes filled, soothing baritone reminiscent of Edmonton folk musician Scott Cook.

His band was tight and lead guitarist Ben Longman played some beautifully tasteful leads, which brought the Steve Dawson produced CD to life.
