Kamila Martel is a Saskatchewan siren, who calls Saskatoon, the ‘Paris of the Prairies’, home.
With smouldering vocals and haunting original material, she delivers captivating, emotionally charged and passionate performances. Drawing from the roots music she grew up on as a third generation musician, she moves forward, creating a genre bending and blending soundscape that can only be known as her own;
An eclectic mix where dirty electric blues guitars meet sweet banjo sprinkles, while upright jazz bass slaps to the beats of a country train shuffle that disappears down an electric sampled subway; where the halls are haunted by vocals, slide, saws and fiddles, sounds from the by-gone eras of the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Laced together with love and lust it sounds like Saskatoon’s newest all-star alternative roots rock band; Kamila Martel & The Ne’erDoWells.
It is safe to say that during her travels and appearances, she has captured the hearts of many.
After touring extensively, as front woman of The Cracker Cats, throughout the U.K. and Canada, solo soul searching and performing throughout the North and South America, playing and headlining key Canadian festivals, showcasing at Canadian Music Week, The Juno’s, The Saskatchewan Country Music Awards and The Western Canadian Music Awards, she has returned home to be supported by an eclectic, all star crew of musicians, including:
Eliza Mad Dog Mary-Jane Doyle- a Psychedelic seventies vision with a bright, white, banjo “Bang”!!
Teegan Gunner Jeffers- using her upright bass as leverage, this five foot F. all badass bassist stands on top while getting slap happy.
Monster Megan Lane- better known as one of Saskatoon’s, sexy, guitar heroes, she likes to switch it up … now pounding out the skins on her favorite, hot pink, leopard sticks.
Finn Day-Wiggins- a Grant McEwan jazz school graduate, a Hawaiian hobo and a funkified farm boy from Saskatchewan at heart. . . .
Paul Kuzbik- a mad scientist of strings on searing slide about to throw down some kuz-groove.
