A self-taught multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, Vaadeland accompanies his impressive vocals with the guitar and banjo. He's a storyteller in song, producing foot stomping, high energy performances with his band, The Sturgeon River Boys.

A self-taught multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, Vaadeland accompanies his impressive vocals with the guitar and banjo. He’s a storyteller in song, producing foot stomping, high energy performances with his band, The Sturgeon River Boys.
A consummate performer who dresses almost exclusively in vintage suits, Vaadeland is a master banjo picker and guitar player. At only 20 years old, Vaadeland is already a seasoned professional, with two albums under his vintage belt. He’s a captivating performer who loves telling stories to his audiences between songs, channeling the likes of Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and bluegrass legends Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt.
Vaadeland won two Saskatchewan Music Awards in 2022, including Album of the Year for Everybody But Me, along with the Folk/Roots Artist of the Year. In addition, he has earned four Saskatchewan Country Music Awards, including Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Alternative Country Album of the Year and Emerging Artist of the Year.
His album, Retro Man, also finished at number two in fan voting for the Best Saskatchewan Albums of 2021.
